'tis the silly season
this is a photo taken at Christmas * we had just given my mum a t-shirt with this printed on the front:
'I helped fight the Warrimoo fires'
you see, the year before was an horrific bush fire season * the whole of the Blue Mountains was affected * at one stage the fire was in our town although on the other side of the highway and in about 3 gullies away.
we were in China at the time and my mum & dad were minding our house and they panicked. They packed everything ! and I mean everything - well almost - they packed wire coathangers but not treasured toys * they packed plates but not whole sets * boxes and boxes of stuff. The fire burnt out and we came home.
To all our belongins packed into removalist boxes. Yes, I was angry.
the next year the bushfire brigade has these t*shirts made and we just had to give mum one!! that is one of the Christmas's that we laugh about now!
love my mum!!

Wow! I think a bush fire of that magnitude would have sent me packing to! Bless her heart...she took care of your things after a fashion..= ). Isn't it good to be able to laugh at things in looking back on them, that were upsetting at the time!
That's pretty cool, I remember those bush fires being on the news over here.
Yes,time certainly puts things in perspective and gives us the ability to laugh at things and just keep going...
